39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. - that everybody gets through their own fog of uncertainty, and that you have your lifetime to reinvent, rebuild yourself, to find success and tremendous satisfaction. so be good to yourself, allow room for mistakes and missed opportunities and realize, that the universe is working to give you what is rightfully yours. - you've got the guts to find your own purpose and the integrity to fulfill it in your own terms.. so it's important to be who you are and say what you feelbecause those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. i realized it's high time to stop caring what other people think-- cause a lot of people will say that you're going the wrong way when it's simply just a way of your own.

Shimmering softly in myriad shades of blue and green, Lake Tahoe.
"Stunning cobalt-blue Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America, famous for its clarity, deep blue water, and surrounding snowcapped peaks. Straddling the state line between California and Nevada, it lies 6,225 feet above sea level in the Sierra Nevada. The border gives this popular resort region a split personality. About half its visitors are intent on low-key sightseeing, hiking, fishing, camping, and boating. The rest head directly for the Nevada side, where bargain dining, big-name entertainment, and the lure of a jackpot draw them into the glittering casinos."
Tony Bennett sure knows what he was talking about when he wrote the song, I left my heart in san Francisco….
rollercoaster streets, countless countercultures, salt-lick breeze. this is basically why, san Francisco is one of my favorite cities in the whole world… it has an atmosphere of genteel chic mixed with offbeat innovation and a self-effacing quality so blatantly missing from brassy New York and plastic LA. its hilly streets provide some gorgeous glimpses of the sparkling bay and its famous bridges.
San Francisco makes it wonderfully easy to tap into the Good Life-- between the hot arts scene, the tempting boutiques, the awesome bay views, and all those stellar, locally focused restaurants and wine bars, it's the perfect place to indulge yourself.
Alcatraz
Considering how many movies have been set here, you might feel like you've already "been there, done that" -- but you really shouldn't miss a trip to America's most infamous federal pen. Husky-throated onetime inmates and grizzled former guards bring the Rock to life on the wonderful audio tour; you'll hear yarns about desperate escape attempts and notorious crooks like Al Capone while you walk the cold cement cellblock. But it's not all doom and gloom: you'll enjoy stunning views of the city skyline on the ferry ride to and from the island.
Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco's signature International Orange span is the city's majestic background, and about 10 million people a year head to the bridge for an up-close look. Walking the 1.7 mi to Marin County -- inches from roaring traffic, steel shaking beneath your feet, and a far-too-low railing between you and the water 200 feet below -- is much more than a superlative photo op (though it's that, too).
Fisherman's Wharf
Once part of a thriving fishing industry, Fisherman's Wharf has deteriorated into a giant harpoon aimed straight at your wallet. Throngs from all over the world come to watch the flopping, barking, or napping sea lions; buy cheap T-shirts; and chow down on overpriced, mediocre food. It's all an utter mystery to locals, who don't come here. Ever. See the magnificent historic ships at the Hyde Street Pier, then take your money and run.
Golden Gate Park
It may be world famous, but first and foremost the park is the city's backyard. Come here any day of the week, and you'll find a microcosm of San Francisco, from the Russian senior citizens feeding the pigeons at Stow Lake to the moms pushing strollers through the botanical gardens to the arts boosters checking out the latest at the de Young Museum. Be sure to visit the park's iconic treasures, including the serene Japanese Tea Garden and the beautiful Victorian Conservatory of Flowers. If you have the time to venture further into this urban oasis, you'll discover less-accessible gems like the Beach Chalet and the wild western shores of Ocean Beach.
Palace of Fine Arts
Perched on a swan-filled lagoon near the Marina's yacht harbor, this stirringly beautiful terra-cotta-color dome has an otherworldly quality about it. Built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exhibition, the palace is a San Francisco architect's version of a Roman ruin, and it's been eliciting gasps for almost a century. Try to see it from the water.
Coit Tower
Most people assume that this stubby white tower atop Telegraph Hill is supposed to look like a fire hose. And considering that a fire truck-chasing, cross-dressing 19th-century socialite donated the funds to build it in honor of firefighters, maybe it is. The tower itself is of vague interest -- it does house the history of San Francisco in murals -- but the "park"(ing lot) at its base gives fantastic views of the city and the bay. The tower sits at the top of Telegraph Hill's Filbert Steps, a steep stairway through glorious gardens with vistas of transcendent beauty, an only-in-San Francisco spot locals cherish.
Cable Cars
You've already seen them (on the big screen, in magazines, and, admit it, on the Rice-a-Roni ™ box). And considering a ticket costs $5 a pop, do you really need to ride a cable car? Yes, you do, at least once during your visit. Flag down a Powell-Hyde car along Powell Street, grab the pole, and clatter and jiggle up mansion-topped Nob Hill. Crest the hill, and hold on for the hair-raising descent to Fisherman's Wharf, with sun glittering off the bay and Alcatraz bobbing in the distance. Don't deny it -- this would be a deal at twice the price.
AT&T Park
One of the finest examples of modern "retro" ballparks, the Giants coastal digs are the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon enjoying the national pastime. Grab a dog and some garlic fries, and revel in the bay views. If you're lucky, you'll get to see someone drill a splash hit into McCovey Cove.
Ferry Building
Foodies rejoice! The historic Ferry Building is stuffed to the brim with all things tasty, including cafés, restaurants, a farmers' market, and merchants peddling everything from wine and olive oil to oysters and mushrooms. The building backs up to the bay, so the views are great -- but they're even better from the decks of the departing ferries.
Wine Country
You don't need to be a connoisseur to enjoy a trip to Napa or Sonoma..or both (hey, you're on vacation). But there's more to a wine country visit than vineyard tours and tastings: landmark restaurants, breathtaking scenery, fantastic artwork, hot air balloon rides, and secluded boutique hotels. And when you're ready for a break, a great glass of wine is never that far out of reach.
ahh... San Francisco, you take my breath away... :)
im saying aloha from a bonafide fleet of heaven on earth...
Mark Twain declared Hawaii to be 'the loveliest fleet of islands that lies anchored in any ocean', and not even years of mass tourism have managed to prove him wrong. Its very name conjures dreamy images of drinking mai tais to slack-key guitar. But it's not all hibiscus behind the ear and papaya on the chin: it's also hikes along the smoldering crust of a living volcano, hip-hop in Waikiki and snorkelling with vivid fish.
Thousands of gems fashion the archipelago's necklace, but only six islands welcome visitors. Each is as different as the multi-ethnic complexions of the local population, who talk story and share their passion about Hawaii as if you're long-lost pals. -lonely planet
one-to-die-for destination after another... i keia manawa ho'opihoihoi...
I never knew I could hurt like this And everyday life goes on like "I wish I could talk to you for awhile" "I wish I could find a way try not to cry" As time goes by And soon as you reach a better place Still I'll give the whole world to see your face And I'm right here next to you It feels like you gone too soon The hardest thing to do is say bye bye
When you have to look away When you dont have much to say Thats when I love you I love you, just that way To hear you stumble when you speak Or see you walk with two left feet Thats when I love you I love you, endlessly And when your mad cuz you lost a game Forget Im waiting in the rain Baby i love you, I love you anyway Heres my promise made tonight You can count "on" me for life Thats when i love you When nothing you do can change my mind The more I learn, The more I love The more my heart cant get enough Thats when I love you, WhenI love you no matter what So when you turn to hide your eyes Cause the movie it made you cry Thats when I love you I love you a little more each time And when you cant quite match your clothes Or when you laugh at your own jokes Thats when I love you I love you, more than youll know And when you forget that we had a date Or that look that you get when you show up late Baby I love you, I love you anyway Heres my promise made tonight You can count "on" me for life Thats when i love you When nothing you do can change my mind The more I learn, The more I love The more my heart cant get enough Thats when I love you, When I love you no matter what Thats when I love you When nothing baby Nothing you do could change my mind The more I learn, The more I love The more my heart cant get enough Thats when I love you, When I love you no matter what No matter what

happy valentines day everyone! whatever that means... :D
ever since i was introduced to muay thai by a very good friend of mine, maan, i loved the striking part. that is where you use your knuckles, palms, elbows, knees and legs to strike your opponent. the sudden release of energy pushes my adrenaline to its highest. and it gives me a natural high. now hold it there. it was not a love at first sight for the sport. it was a slow acceptance of the fact that i have to be scarred and injured to learn the craft. i've been bruised, i've been wounded and even sprained, and i have cried for those times. but the euphoric high I get from sweating it all out is enough to forget all my daily stress and emotional hang-ups. it is addicting. and i don't want to stop at striking.
now i am also into grappling. the reason why mixed martial arts is a full contact sport is because of the grappling part, where you use submission skills by holding the opponent's arm, leg, neck and other joints in vulnerable positions then slowly applying force on it. the purpose is to make the opponent "submit" or retreat from the fight. this is almost always done on the ground. of course it sounds easy, but the techniques are not. and you have to be able to master the skills to the point that doing it has become instinctive because believe me, once you are fighting, there is no time for your nerve cells to travel to your brain and ask what the next move shall be. everything happens in a snap. and the first time i did it, i did what is instinctive to women -- pull my opponent's hair (who happened to be a meek five-years-my-junior guy)!
my three trainors have already commended me for my solid punches and improved speed. but i have yet to see myself doing fairly in submissions.
but things does not end there; i never liked watching anything violent -- boxing, wrestling -- tune in to it and i will quickly disappear in front of the TV. that was before. now i gave up HBO and Star Movies for AXN, UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and Pride. and i would (someday) love to watch it live and be at the ringside -- literally. so i could hear the breath and smell the sweat of the fighters in the ring and never feel a tinge of yucky-ness. i think that would be liberating.
violence, albeit in moderation, is now part of my daily grind. i am no longer a weakling. although i will not go around looking for a fight, i will be ready to defend my pride if so needed. this is my underworld-- where i get down and dirty on the mats while exchanging sweat with my sparring partner. where i step out of my slinky stilettos to soil and scar my footsies. where i strip off my chunky necklace and fancy earrings to don hand wraps and boxing gloves. indeed i have become one of the boys. this is my underworld -- where i am not an authority, my trainor is. where I am a novice, and they are the experienced. where i am commended not for brainwork but for physical effort.
THIS IS, INDEED, MY UNDERWORLD. it gives balance to my rather monotonous and all-diplomatic and sometimes party hardy life. it is a welcome antonym of my rather cultured fine-dining-cocktail-sipping weekend lifestyle. it is an arousing respite from my all too girly ways and character.
and if ever i get the chance to fill up those teeny-boppers' slumbook again, at least i can proudly say without any tinge of doubt that I have a real sport. finally.
renaldo lapuz sings his own composition on american idol.... manong, salamat for the laughter. you are my hero hahaha. omg! you just made my day... at first i was disgusted with the fact that he is pinoy... but he caused quite a commotion that i ended up laughing instead. i said it before and i'll say it again.... go pinoy!

humans are more often than not creatures of habit. sometimes we get stuck in the routine of our lives that everything in it becomes so ordinary. you wake up, feed yourself, do personal stuff, go to work, go home, be idle, do work at home then finally sleep, the next day you wake up and do the same things with only a few variations and a few surprises here and there.. and voila—that’s how your life looks like. life becomes so mundane that it starts to become meaningless or trivial to you.
but in most cases, you and i know that this springs untrue. little miracles happen each day no matter how meaningless you perceive your life right now…if we only take the time to notice it. take comfort in the fact that God has something in store for you. countless and endless are the things that are bound to happen to us everyday.. we probably come across miracles without knowing it… sadly, only a few are able to appreciate life because only a few look at the brighter side of things.
i’ve been able to appreciate the things i have in my life, including insignificant events and coincidences, but admittedly i still am learning how to make each day worthwhile. what i am trying to get at is that whether you’re feeling stressed out or carefree, happy or depressed something ordinary can turn into something so big it can change your life forever. be attentive and look out for those moments because you’ll never know what life has to offer you next.
as the year comes to a close, i'll leave you with these: “no matter how ordinary your life is, a sprinkle of faith can turn it into a fairy tale” something i got from reading my journal way back 2005...
cheers to the coming a year.... another chance for us to make it right!
Do you remember me I sat upon your knee I wrote to you With childhood fantasies
Well, I'm all grown up now And still need help somehow I'm not a child But my heart still can dream
So here's my lifelong wish My grown up christmas list Not for myself But for a world in need
No more lives torn apart That wars would never start and wars would never start And time would heal all hearts And everyone would have a friend And right would always win And love would never end This is my grown up christmas list
As children we believed The grandest sight to see Was something lovely Wrapped beneath our tree
Well heaven surely knows That packages and bows Can never heal A hurting human soul
No more lives torn apart That wars would never start And time would heal all hearts And everyone would have a friend And right would always win And love would never end This is my grown up christmas list...

Yeah, I drive naked through the park And run the stop sign in the dark Stand in the street, yell out my heart To make, to make you love me

So dig a little deeper, cause You still don't get it yet See me lickin' my lips, need a primitive fix And I'll make, I'll make you love me
I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary Average every day sane psycho Supergoddess Average every day sane psycho Supergoddess
See me jump through hoops for you You stand there watching me performing What exactly do you do? Have you ever thought it's you that's boring? Who the hell are you?

to the many years of friendship, bickering, acceptance, happiness and love:
to the wonderful people we’ve came to know and love, to broken hearts and breaking hearts. to new lives and big dreams. to inevitable disappointments and our many accomplishments. to the beautiful boys we’ve crushed on, to unforgettable sleepless nights, never ending yosi breaks, guiltless pigging out, mindless intoxication and crazy hangovers, merciless sound tripping, road trips and flat tires. to our fashion blunders, make up chaos, uncontrollable weight gain and weight loss. to our own medical check-ups, waiver signing, budget- setting and other feeling grown-up stuff. to the countless gimmicks planned and unplanned. to the times we’ve laughed out loud and cried like a baby. the beach. the bagyo. the death-defying experiences. the coffee breaks. telebabad. chillin out... chillin in... to the moments we’ve spent drawing hearts in the sand… dancing through life and acting stupid in the streets. forgetting our umbrellas and making memories in the rain...
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again… nobody can ever take a friend’s place. missing everyone… i thank you all for the warmest and sweetest summer of my life. Cheers!
